Hotel Fedora in Campitello di Fassa: Alpine architecture in Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware

The renovation of Hotel Fedora is an exemplary case of using porcelain stoneware for hotels and mountain hospitality facilities. The project, designed by architect Fabio Mariani, interprets Alpine architecture through continuous ceramic surfaces, capable of connecting interior and exterior spaces coherently and functionally.

The project received an honorable mention at the 13th edition of the Casalgrande Padana Grand Prix, in the category Office, Commercial, Public and Service Buildings, for the extensive and thoughtful use of porcelain stoneware as the main architectural material.

Porcelain stoneware for Alpine architecture and hospitality

Set within the Dolomites, Hotel Fedora faces a landscape of rock, forests and traditional wooden architecture. The project translates these elements into a contemporary language through the use of porcelain stoneware and wood, materials chosen for their aesthetic, technical and environmental qualities.

Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware replaces natural stone, maintaining its material effect while offering greater strength, safety and durability, essential aspects for the intensive use typical of hotel facilities. The ceramic surface thus becomes an ideal solution for floors, wall coverings, staircases and functional surfaces in the hospitality sector.

Porcelain stoneware surfaces as a unifying element

Inside the hotel, porcelain stoneware plays the role of unifying surface, visually and materially connecting the lobby, bar, TV room, dining room, wellness center and circulation routes. The use of a single reference ceramic surface reinforces the perception of continuity and order, improving the readability of spaces and the guest experience.

Porcelain stoneware floors accompany the building's internal circulation, dialoguing with large wooden and glass openings that relate the interior spaces to the external landscape. The choice of surfaces helps create a coherent, solid and welcoming atmosphere.

Porcelain stoneware floors and wall coverings for common areas

The lobby is one of the project's focal points. The fir wood reception desk is completed by a porcelain stoneware top, coordinated with the flooring realized in the Dragon Black color from the Amazzonia collection by Casalgrande Padana. The running bond installation, arranged in multiple formats, enriches the ceramic surface with rhythm and depth, enhancing the architectural design of the common areas.

Ceramic surfaces for hotels thus become protagonists not only functionally but also aesthetically, helping define the visual identity of the project.

Porcelain stoneware for wellness centers and high-traffic areas

In the hotel's wellness center, porcelain stoneware was selected in a slip-resistant version, demonstrating the material's versatility even in wet and highly-demanding environments. This choice confirms the suitability of porcelain stoneware for spas, wellness areas and common zones in hospitality facilities, where safety, hygiene and ease of maintenance are essential requirements.

With a total supply of over 1,500 m² of porcelain stoneware surfaces, the Hotel Fedora project highlights how ceramic material can be used extensively without sacrificing aesthetic quality and design coherence.

The project demonstrates how Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware represents an effective solution for contemporary hotel architecture, particularly in Alpine contexts. Ceramic surfaces guarantee strength, material continuity and integration with the landscape, providing a concrete response to the functional and aesthetic needs of modern hotellerie.
