In contemporary interior design, color becomes an architectural element capable of defining spaces and functions. In this fully renovated kitchen, designed by CATO Creative, the HIMACS Solid Surface surfaces are used as an expressive tool, transforming the space into a dynamic, bright and strongly identity-driven environment.
The use of color blocks makes it possible to distinguish the different work areas of the kitchen while maintaining a material continuity that reinforces the perception of order and visual cleanliness.
HIMACS Solid Surface kitchen: continuity, hygiene and color
The HIMACS surfaces were chosen for the kitchen island and the wall units, using two tones from the brand’s color range: Orange, applied to the central island, and Banana, used for the suspended volumes. Both finishes highlight the typical qualities of Solid Surface: no visible joints, a non-porous surface, high standards of hygiene and ease of cleaning.
The color interacts with the furniture finishes and the surrounding surfaces, creating a balance between visual impact and design coherence. The surfaces integrate with custom wooden furnishings and technical elements, contributing to a functional and highly personalized kitchen.
Continuous surfaces and natural light: a multi-level residential project
The kitchen is set within a restored Victorian house, characterized by large glass openings and Crittall-style skylights that amplify the entry of natural light. HIMACS surfaces react to light dynamically, changing their perceived color throughout the day and across seasons.
White walls and the clean lines of the architecture provide a neutral backdrop for the colored volumes, allowing the Solid Surface surfaces to emerge as protagonists of the project.

HIMACS Solid Surface: performance for kitchen and bathroom
Thanks to its homogeneous, smooth and non-porous composition, HIMACS is a material particularly suitable for high-use environments such as the kitchen and bathroom. The surfaces provide:
- high resistance to daily use
- ease of maintenance
- repairability
- aesthetic continuity without joints
In the project, the use of the material extends to the upper-floor bathroom, where HIMACS was used to create a custom vanity unit in the Sapphire shade, with a double integrated sink in Alpine White, confirming the versatility of Solid Surface even in wet environments.
Color, surface and residential comfort
The use of vibrant tones helps create a stimulating and luminous domestic environment, capable of adapting to changes in light and season. The color palette, combined with natural materials and technical surfaces, demonstrates how Solid Surface can be used not only for its performance but also as a narrative element of the project.
