RAK Ceramics at Milan Design Week: MAXIMUS porcelain stoneware surfaces for kitchen and bathroom

On the occasion of the Milan Design Week, RAK Ceramics returns to the heart of Milan to present the new MAXIMUS ceramic surfaces in large-format porcelain stoneware, conceived to meet the needs of contemporary architecture.

The exhibition takes place inside the RAK Design HUB on Via Borgogna, a space of over 400 square meters conceived as an international hub dedicated to architects, interior designers and contractors.

Here ceramic is interpreted as a complete design language, where ceramic surfaces, sanitaryware, bathroom furnishings, faucets and porcelains interact within an integrated ecosystem for contemporary projects.

The concept Crafted for Living expresses the brand’s design vision: ceramic is no longer just a covering, but becomes a design tool capable of defining functional, aesthetic and durable spaces.

MAXIMUS surfaces: large-format porcelain stoneware for kitchen and bathroom

At the center of RAK Ceramics’s design proposal are the kitchen and bathroom, spaces where aesthetics and performance must coexist flawlessly.

To meet this design evolution, the group presents MAXIMUS, the line of large-format porcelain stoneware surfaces designed to expand the applications of ceramic material.

The range includes numerous formats including the new 162×324 cm at 12 mm thickness, accompanied by:

120×280 cm (6 and 9 mm) - 162×162 cm - 120×120 cm - 60×120 cm - 60×120 cm (20 mm)

These large-format porcelain stoneware slabs allow the creation of material continuity on architectural surfaces, making them ideal for:

  • kitchen islands
  • countertops
  • vanity tops
  • vertical claddings
  • custom horizontal surfaces

Production is made possible by the new industrial plant dedicated to MAXIMUS surfaces, developed with Continua+ PCR 2180 technology.

Technical performance of MAXIMUS porcelain stoneware

The MAXIMUS porcelain stoneware surfaces combine aesthetic quality and high technical performance.

Made with selected raw materials such as clay, silica and quartz, these surfaces feature a compact structure with water absorption below 0.5%, guaranteeing high hygienic standards and long-term resistance.

Key technical features include:

  • high resistance to scratches and stains
  • heat resistance
  • resistance to thermal shock
  • hygienic and non-porous surface
  • durability over time even in high-use environments.

RAK Ceramics’ production technologies also allow for ultra-high definition finishes, capable of faithfully reproducing the materiality of natural materials such as marble, stone and wood.

I Sassi: Mediterranean stone-effect porcelain stoneware

Among the collections featured at Milan Design Week stands out I Sassi, a stone-effect porcelain stoneware surface inspired by the ancient settlements carved into the calcarenite of the city of Matera.

The collection is offered in the Borgogna and Matera variants, available in four color tones ranging from beige to gray.

The texture evokes the natural erosion of Mediterranean stone, creating elegant and sophisticated architectural surfaces.

Thanks to SOFTECH technology, the surface is:

  • uniform
  • velvety to the touch
  • easy to clean.

Travertine: travertine-effect porcelain stoneware with Sync Effect technology

The Travertine collection reinterprets one of the most iconic materials of the Italian architectural tradition: travertine.

Available in the Crosscut and Veincut (Osso) variants and in four colors, the surface reproduces with great precision the materiality of travertine marble.

Thanks to the digital Sync Effect technology, the graphic and relief of the surface are perfectly synchronized, creating a three-dimensional material effect rich in depth and detail.

The result is a travertine-effect porcelain stoneware surface ideal for interior design projects that combine architectural memory and contemporary minimalism.

White Golden Marble: marble-effect porcelain stoneware with antibacterial technology

The White Golden Marble collection proposes marble-effect porcelain stoneware surfaces characterized by a white background crossed by gray veins and golden nuances.

The slabs are equipped with RAK-Sanit technology, an antibacterial glazing designed to ensure high hygienic standards in domestic environments.

This technology is particularly suitable for:

  • kitchen countertops
  • vanity tops
  • kitchen islands
  • bathroom claddings

Technical performance is further improved by the patented Scratch Guard finish, which increases scratch resistance, preserving the surface’s aesthetic appearance over time.

Ceramic surfaces for contemporary architecture and interior design

With the new MAXIMUS collections presented at Milan Design Week, RAK Ceramics strengthens its research in the field of ceramic surfaces for contemporary architecture and interior design.

The large-format porcelain stoneware slabs today represent a versatile design tool capable of combining:

  • material aesthetics
  • technological innovation
  • high technical performance
  • long-term durability

An approach that interprets ceramic as a central material for contemporary kitchens and bathrooms, spaces where aesthetics, functionality and hygiene must coexist flawlessly.
